Butch Lived! And so have a whole lot of other stubborn, tough, funny, wonderful people.

There are 400 square miles of wash boards, mud, clay, rocks, sand, snow and dust in Moffat, Routt, Rio Blanco, Carbon & Uintah Counties.  Temperatures can rise or fall 70+ degrees in a matter of hours. Our corner of the world is filled with history, is known for big bucks, lots of elk, great fishing, greener pastures, rough terrain, and tough unforgettable characters

For the last 30 years, my daily drive too and from town makes me proud of where we live and with the people we share these mountains, deserts & valley's.  Every day produces a new animal, new person, or new experience I haven't seen before. And for the past 50 years, our family has traveled nearly all the backroads, seen all the vistas and felt first hand what makes this place special. In the good times and the hard times, we are truly grateful for our unbelievable customers and friends. 

​T​he Rusty Metal Heritage project pays homage to those who came before us, Those who lived hard, worked hard, played hard, loved freedom and valued independence by creating sculptures of local animals using scrap metal found at their homesteads, shops and businesses.

    Every chunk of metal, every tool, every blade, disc, gear or scrap of memorabilia in our store hides a story of times gone by.  I Can imagine a homesteader sawing ice on the Yampa, during the winter of '21.  Or a ranch hand's scythe slicing hay on the bank of the little Snake.  Check out my fathers Browning literally spawning the "polar bear league" after smoking targets on a Thursday night at   - 61.  A Willy's emblem found high on Lookout Mountain. A Calvary Bit left behind from a whole another era. A Bendix aviation outboard putting around since 1933. A water ski, that "taught the whole community of Craig how to slalom in the 70's".  A Mitchell 300 from the Buford store . An AJAX piston pumping a million hours in the Red Desert.  Fred's scrapbook of area 2 & 201 Trophies. Duke's dads hand carved roping dummy, Lucy's lantern used to check on a foal @ 2 a.m. or her hackamore that made Bimbo a legend.

And for those old west history buffs, check out the holy grail of tools. A Model T bead breaker made by Snap-on, that just might have changed a tire at the crossroads, when Butch pulled his Ford alongside Josey (After Bolivia) Its true, I believe it.  Josey told Neldon.
